What is the cell phone policy?
Students may bring cell phones to school, however, the UCS handbook specifies "they cannot be displayed or used without permission from a teacher or administrator for educational purposes." Here at Shelby phones should only be out and in use before and after school, unless a teacher is allowing the use of phones in class for educational activities. Otherwise, phones should be turned off during the school day.
Phones turned into the office for inappropriate use must be picked up by a parent.
What is the dress code?
The UCS handbook indicates, "Student appearance should not be disruptive to the educational process." Please see the student handbook for the complete dress code. In general, students should wear clothing that isn’t revealing or restrictive, as many classroom activities require students to be active.
What if my child gets sick during the school day?
Students who are not feeling well should ask the teacher for a pass to the main office to call a parent. Please remind your child not to call or text you from a cell phone during the school day.
